Thepaper isoled light I made before looked good but was very vulnerable and having bought a 3d printer recently this was a nice opportunity to make a plastic one.

the leds are controlled by an arduino an you can shift through the palettes with a knob, or remotly by phone and voice commands

first idea was just the icosahedron structure made from modular 3d printed parts on which the paper parts could be sticked.

In the second iteration I combined to white and red parts into one

and did a nice trick to be able to printy a stack of modules at once. The parts are printed as a colom but can easily be separated. this graetly reduced print times and a stack of 6 could be printed each night

But after seeing my previous paper prototype getting damaged more and more I decided to also print the 5 and 6 sided knotted pyramids.

using the 3d print technique I could not print the complete module as one. So the top covers were sepeartly printed and are finally clicked into the bottom parts.

these are all the parts used. 20 hexagonal knotted pyramids and 20 top covers, 12 pentagonal ones an 12 top covers and a lot of connectors.

I also did some tests with rounded 'bulbs' but it was difficult to get constant quality in the prints.

I also changed the leds and used a strand of 12mm diffused leds. Soldering the ws2812 leds myself like I did previously turned out too much work.
